[livejournal.com profile] glitch25 isn't kidding: SanMar is hiring like crazy. Some of the positions listed (well, at least one) they're looking to hire many people for.

So if you're looking for a job or know someone who is (I know there are a ton of you out there!), point them that direction!

EDIT: for the non-drivers, it's less than a half-mile from the Preston P&R, which can be reached on route 209.

first day

Mentally, I'm running through part of my day in reverse. Like how [livejournal.com profile] glitch25 told me on the way home that he hadn't mentioned my name to anyone until after I'd received the job offer. When I asked him about it, he said "you didn't need me to...I knew you could get it on your own merit".

That right there pretty much made my day.

Other than that? It was a good first day. Gonna be a lot of training for the next few weeks.

Poly People I Can Do Without

Always a good one to read/reread!

Lesbian sex makes God so very happy

Yes, it's fairly SFW. It's Something Positive.

I don't get it...

Pretty sure any mental bandwidth I had disappeared a few hours ago.

I haven't been writing much about my life lately. Because honestly--there hasn't been much to tell. I've hit a lot of lull time and feel a bit trapped.

Been working through some changes of my own but I kept them to a filter-figuring maybe it's Saturn on its way, maybe it's life, either way if anyone's interested on being on it I'll add.

Cross found at AF Academy's Wicca center

I've been hearing a lot of outcry blaming Evangelical Christians for this.

Well-Colorado Springs has a high evangelical population, so I can see where that theory could come from. It could also be the work of some asshole kids trying to stir up trouble for shits and giggles. Jumping to the conclusion that it simply MUST have been a product of the evangelicals is rather akin to claiming that the act of defacing a church MUST have been the actions of 'them Satan-worshipping witch folk'. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, but does anyone *really* want the police poking around us every time some kid has a can of spray paint and a whim to cause trouble?

Another comparison I keep seeing is that "it's the equivalent of a swastika in a Jewish worship space". Am I the only one who thinks this is something of a stretch, given what we know about the "burning times"?

There is no group/culture/subculture/religion/belief set/practice that is immune from having abuse occur. Period. No one is any more or less prone to it.

(Thought inspired by this post)

Lovely quote from [livejournal.com profile] friend_of_tofu: A lot of people seem unable to fathom that poly scenes can encompass rape, sexual aggression, creepiness, abuse, gender/race/age/disability/class prejudice, but they do, and they happen plenty. Unfortunately, one of the myths about being "forward-thinking" is that as a tolerant, liberal person, you're automatically freed from any form of intolerant thinking, because you suddenly become resistant to conditioning.

So I decided...what the hell.

Not a faerie vixen anymore...but still just a bit vixen-esque.

A bit of holiday insight from [livejournal.com profile] lupabitch:

Also, on reflection, I'm really fucking annoyed with modern pagans who claim "ZOMG the Christians stole Christmas from us!" No. No, they didn't. There is no unbroken line of relatively unscathed, unaltered paganism from Europe, which is where the Yule traditions came from. Nobody stole Christmas from 2,000 year old Wiccans. And much of what modern neopagans have is heavily flavored by being part of a culture that is significantly shaped by Christianity (among other contributing factors), so we're not exactly innocent of "theft". So quit bitching about how oppressed we are. We are not the same people, cultures or religions that were "taken from", and IMO to claim otherwise is a slap in the face of actual indigenous cultures extant today.

Casual sex really doesn't screw us up!

Next big discovery: women actually like sex and even sometimes have these nifty things called orgasms.
