On the murder of Dr. Tiller and hypocrisy
Jun. 12th, 2009 10:25 amI'm hearing a lot of "if the extremists are so pro-life, why are they killing doctors?"
Let's start with the belief that killing in self-defense (or defense of those incapable of defending themselves) is considered justifiable. Using this train of thought, in the eyes of a pro-life extremist an abortion doctor is a murderer. The actions of the extremist, in his own eyes, are justified since no one else is standing up for those who cannot defend themselves--in this case, the unborn.
I don't agree with the belief than an abortion doctor is a murderer (I'm pro-choice), but it's not a painfully huge leap of logic to make.
I'm having a harder time reconciling the logic between being pro-choice and anti-death penalty (I'm still on the fence on this one, trying to look at both sides of the issue as best I can).
