Virgo Horoscope for week of May 29, 2008

Your role model is Tilly Trotter, a blind, 74-year-old grandmother who lives in the UK. She took up archery two years ago despite her handicap. Recently she pulled off a rare feat, shooting her arrow so precisely that it split another arrow already lodged in the target. Among archers, this is called a Robin Hood. According to my analysis of the astrological omens, you now have the power to do something similar, Virgo: overcome a disadvantage in order to accomplish a riveting triumph that would be difficult even for those who don't have to deal with a limitation like yours. You're primed to carry out your personal version of a Robin Hood.

Lately I've been questioning the point of posting these. Is it to acheive the goal stated in the message, take some amusement, or something else? Typically a reaction is anywhere from "oooh, scarily accurate" to "Rob, what the hell are you smoking?". From this, I find myself wondering if a horoscope really means a damn thing or not.

I tend to only post them if they seem to truly reflect where I am, where I'm going and/or what I'm experiencing. Sometimes it's for a laugh, too.

I'm using my journal more an more as an acutal journal these days.

Brezsny doesn't do horoscopes, he does Free Association Ravings that have little or nothing to do with Astrology.

Hidden in the one you posted above is a little nugget of wisdom for us Virgos:

A little effort will move something from the "extremely difficult" category to the "holy shit I did it!" category. I ain't gonna argue.

Me either! But that's been an ongoing thing that I'd like to think had little to do with astrology and more to do with my stretching myself far enough to kick my own ass.

I enjoy thinking about them, because while they may be a load of tripe most weeks, I can often find some valuable thought train that starts out with them.
