So long as women continue to choose majors in undervalued fields, yes. Some markets are quite glutted, while others pay higher wages for greater demand. It's more of a matter of women being shuffled away from those fields in their early years.

Heh... I'm not sure what to say to this one.. Its almost as if they are saying that women are responsible for creating and maintaining the stereotypes that they say they don't resemble. Or worse, for which they are a victim.

Dunno.. known too many strong-minded women who worked hard for what they wanted, and are doing extremely well financially. Not sure if its related just to the fact that they were strong willed and worked hard, or if it was a factor of them not feeling the need to pigeon-hole themselves.

I will say that I think overall, priorities for both men and women are changing, and in spite of all the conservatives, gender roles are changing. We're in a time where people don't feel bound by the previous generational roles that once were used to define how people acted.

Its pretty much a do as you will society, and those that step up thrive.

It is for that reason that I encourage and celebrate women who try to succeed in traditionally male populated fields. That is why I come early and help set up the Women in Games conference when it is in town. Any woman who works in physical science, computers, or any other "male" field instantly has my respect and admiration.
