spring cleaning

I think the next couple months will be a time of LJ f-list weeding. Some things I just don't read anymore, some people I just don't feel as close to anymore.

There's always this nagging fear that people will take unfriending personally. I guess I get it. Which leaves the option of filtering like crazy.

And recreating of filters. Maybe changing some older stuff to private.

Fresh start, reorganizing, et cetera. Organizing is good for the soul.

Reflection and reorganization are always a good thing. It is tedious to go through all the old entries but in the long run, it makes things flow better. Have fun *snark*!

people taking it personally isn't the end of the world.. besides... they are free to ask, and you should feel free to be honest with them. Whatever that reason is.

If someone freaks out, what are the chances you wanted to keep reading them (and they you) anyway? :/

And if they just ASK, hey, by all means, tell 'em the truth, cause that's what makes or breaks your interest in them and theirs in you anyway!

Blogs are personal. People who take /other/ people's blogs personal are not thinking clearly. :/

I used to blog for just twenty of my closest friends. we have been nutso and said whatever we wanted.

*grins* I've had folks say something about someone else's blog, (like, all they do is movie reviews. like I care.) and I can only boggle- it's like, well... that's what their blog IS... their blog isn't THEM. You can be their friend and not have their movie reviews spam your flist, ya know. :P

I have several folks I know, who aren't on my flist just cause I don't READ their blog... and several folks I know who I consider really nice folks, who I didn't friend because I just don't think they need to read my friends-only posts. :P I don't like 'em any less... I just don't want 'em reading the /personal/ parts!

I did filters because of not wanting to hurt people's feelings. But I had to get over that. Indeed I have been a bit surprised and wondered why I was dropped off of others friends list, but hey that is the world, and really means nothing in the big picture.

I was relieved to do spring cleaning on my list and I posted that I was going to to that - so if anyone really wanted to remain they could send me a comment. But like you stated things change in life, relationships change.

I have like 80 bajillion people on my f-list...
I usually ask why if people unfriend me, because I'd go away curious. But if people do, unfriend someone else, so what - let them go blahblaha.

Sometimes you just want to read what you want to read about. MOstly I just scroll through the ones that are less important to me though. But that can take a lot of time... remember a while back when I made a separate "flist" filter to viewing? I think you can do that too. But you know there are several ways and none of them are wrong.

Folks move on. LJ isn't the world.

Weeding/Rebooting is a good habit from time to time. These days I tend to think memories do fade for a reason, and usually a good reason at that. Some thoughts, feelings, and faces you'll always want to hold onto--but only hold onto the ones you really want.
